Chuck
When a twenty-something computer geek inadvertently downloads critical government secrets into his brain, his former college friend turned CIA recruits him as a secret agent, all while keeping him out of evil hands.
I was cast in the pilot for this network series about a computer geek employed as a clerk in one of those numerous big-box electronics outlets who is accidentally brain-zapped with a huge download of national security secrets and gets himself drafted into the CIA. It has been hugely successful since the pilot aired in 2007 but to date the producers have not called with an invitation to reprise my character. Hopefully, that is because the show has moved beyond requiring a general to do officer exposition in each episode and not because my performance sucked. In the pilot, I play General Stanfield, one of the senior military types who try to discover how an innocent pencil-neck became the repository of highly-classified information and then orders an all-out effort to get the poor guy under government control. It was fun working with star Zachary Levi supporting actors Yvonne Stahovski and Julia Ling but the role was fairly standard for me and certainly not much of a stretch to play yet another senior officer shouting orders and looking grim. Maybe the writers will see the need for that sort of plot device in future episodes. Or I could get lucky and back into a script for this series that gives me a little more to do in supporting the story. Im hoping for that as the series is both interesting and entertaining. These days you cant ask for much more in network TV - unless I can find a way to become a recurring character on Lost.
