We've gone to a lot of lengths and locations in an attempt to bring veracity to Electronic Arts' best-selling "Medal Of Honor" videogame. We've traveled to and trained production crews in the Mojave and Sonora Deserts; we've staged events at the Presidio of San Francisco and barnstormed through UK and Germany. That's as it should be as we're trying to get the details right and promote a game that's more than mere entertainment in our view."

But the trip we took with an MOH production crew to the South Pacific was as good as it gets for Warriors Inc. folks, especially the Marines among us. The idea was to research the actual battlegrounds for the sixth and seventh versions of MOH titled "Rising Sun" and "Pacific Assault." Both of these games take the player to the South Pacific to experience some of the most brutal combat in World War II.
On an extraordinary two-week journey, Capt. Dye and WO Rupkalvis visited Guam and Saipan in the Marianas, Pelelieu and Ngesebus in the Palau Islands, and Iwo Jima. With the exception of Guam and Saipan, we were rare visitors to these islands that have now become forgotten backwaters of the war in the Pacific. We had full freedom to crawl caves and bunkers and pick up souvenirs untouched by human hands since 1945 or earlier. It was a fantastic journey and re-living some of WW II in the Pacific history by walking the jungles and beaches was a thrill we will never forget.
One of many highlights was the image of Capt. Dye standing atop Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima, at the exact spot where our flag was raised in 1945, and making a satellite phone call back to the U.S. That image and others from the trip are available as you roam through these pages.
