Invaders from Mars--Thoughts on the Production
This film will always have a special place in my heart despite the fact that it didn't do well in wide release. This is where it all started for me and for Warriors Inc. Working on this project brought what was a vague concept into sharp focus and convinced me I could make a contribution in the entertainment industry with my ideas given half a chance.
As a sort of third-wheel initially, I was also able to snoop around the set, poke my nose into everyone's business and begin to learn how movies are actually made. It was a quick and comprehensive graduate course in filmmaking. Further, it taught me that military methods, in many cases, are both compatible and efficient in entertainment production. After Invaders From Mars, I knew what to do and how to do it. At this point I got serious.
It was also on this film that I qualified for membership in the Screen Actors Guild. I did my first speaking role on film as the Marine Dragon Gunner who blows away the Martian brain-boring machine. What was that famous SAG line?
