Low Down Dirty Shame--Thoughts on the Production

We took this film mostly because there was nothing high profile and military-themed on the boards at the time. We also wanted to - and did - establish a relationship with the Wayan brothers, a family of talented writers, actors and filmmakers. It was pleasant - but not very challenging - work and I learned a lot from Keenan about thinking outside standard parameters in staging. His timing as an actor is impeccable. Had a hell of a time convincing some of the actors that the proper, effective way to fire a handgun is straight up and down; not cocked over at a 90-degree angle. It might look cool, but it's dumb and defeats the engineering built into the design.
