Port Chicago Mutiny
In 1944, two ships blew up at the Port Chicago ammunition depot near San Francisco, killing 300 men, 202 of whom were black. When 50 black ammunition loaders refused to return to work thought too dangerous for white sailors, they were convicted of mutiny.
