  ER--Thoughts on the Production

One of the lead actors in this highly rated series is an Army Reservist who is called on to do a tour of duty with a CASH unit in Iraq. I got a call from Tommy Burns, an old friend who is the Line Producer on the show and he asked me to tag along on location for two episodes and insure they got it right. No special training was required, so I sort of winged it and adjusted the actors and extras as we went along on a ten-day shoot in the Simi Valley area of southern California. I was particularly pleased that the primary actors and the Director all wanted to do their best to accurately depict our fighting men and women involved in the current Operation Iraqi Freedom. They took special care with sets, props and performances and I believe they did a creditable job. It was a uniquely pleasant television experience.
